Bernadette Luna
Associate Director for Management Operations

Bernadette Luna serves as Associate Director for Management Operations in the Astrobiology and Space Research Directorate at Ames Research Center. Prior to this, she was Assistant Division Chief in the Space Science Division. Ms. Luna began her career at Ames in 1985, in the Aerospace Human Factors Division. She performed space life sciences research investigations in the area of Protective Suits and Life Support for over 10 years, prior to joining the Astrobiology Technology Branch in 1998. Areas of investigation were broad and varied, and were both experimental and analytical in nature. Topics included integrative thermal protection for space suits, neutral buoyancy simulation, human thermoregulatory response to protective systems, cooling therapy for multiple sclerosis, and portable life support systems development. She has several publications associated with this work. Additionally, she has been involved in numerous Extravehicular Activity (EVA) program planning efforts.
